About the Speaker:
Dr. Afiya S. Zia (PhD Gender Studies) is a distinguished scholar with over 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and activism in Pakistan and South Asia. She served as the Frank B. Weeks Chair and Visiting Professor of Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wesleyan University (2021-2022). Dr. Zia is the author of Faith and Feminism in Pakistan: Religious Agency or Secular Autonomy? (2017) and has contributed extensively to scholarly journals and volumes, solidifying her reputation as a leading voice on gender and politics in the region.
