Dr. Usman Khalid completed his doctorate from University of Kassel, Germany in sustainable supply chain management. The title of his doctoral dissertation was “Sustainable Supply Chain Management in Base of the Pyramid”. The results of his PhD research were published in such prestigious scientific journals as journal of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Business, Society and the Environment and International Journal of Operations and Production Management. Furthermore, he has presented his research work at such international forums as DSI, EurOMA and NOFOMA in USA, Norway, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Working regularly with a team of researchers coming from diverse cultural backgrounds, Dr. Usman brings into his class a global perspective to understand the dynamic systems governing the functioning of global supply chains.
Currently, he is working as an assistant professor in Suleman Dawood Schol of Business (SDSB), LUMS. Where he is engaged in teaching at undergraduate, graduate and executive levels. To support his learning and research endeavors, he has secured various research grants from DAAD and HEC in areas like digital supply chain management in emerging economies, battery electric vehicles and cold supply chain management. His area of research and specialization includes such topics as operations management, strategic supply chain management, supply chain design, stakeholder management, risk management, project management, team development, supply management and linear modeling techniques to optimize supply chain performance.
To play his part in building supply chain management related capabilities of local industry, Dr. Usman also offers various executive training programs from the platform of LUMS and likewise. The aim is to enable managers to successfully compete at a global level and participate in the growth of commerce and industry in the country. He has offered trainings on such broad topics as supply chain management, project management and procurement management not only to various departments of provincial (Punjab, KPK, and Balochistan) but also to business executives representing such industries as FMCG, retail, power, fertilizer, cement, and textile.
